I am alone, inspite of love,
In spite of all i take and give--
in spite of all your tenderness,
Sometimes I am not glad to live.
I am alone, as though I stood
On the highest peak of the tired gray world,
About me, endless space unfurled;
With earth hidden and heaven hidden,
And only my own spirit's pride
To keep me from the peace of those
Who are not lonely, having died.
Sarah is a very passionate wwriter this is one of the reasons i chose this poem. i love to listen to the power in people's voices as they write how they are feeling twords something. Sarah in this poem is sharing her feelings on how she feels so alone because her loved ones have gone away. she feels like it only her in this world. she talks about how although she loves and gives she seems to not gain anything from it. she wants to be at peace, and the only way is for her to die.
